A beautiful, cool morning.  I dropped Maddie off at school at 9am, which left me just under 3 hours for the long run, cool down, and stretching.  Piece of cake, right?  So, here’s a synopsis of what I saw/did during my run.  (You know 21 miles is a long way and I can get a little bored sometimes).

Number of towns I traversed:  5 (Wiscasset, Alna, Newcastle, Damariscotta, and Edgecomb)

Number of bridge crossings:  10? (although I kind of lost count)

Number of other runners seen during run: 0 (although I did pass 2 walkers)

Number of traffic lights: 1 (Damariscotta just put one in a few months ago)

Number of picturesque Maine water views:  too many to count (The highlights would be Sheepscot Village and downtown Damariscotta)

Man, I led a canoe trip from Wiscasset to Damariscotta in the early 90’s, and it took us 4 days, and that was only one way.

Admittedly, we went about it in a rather roundabout way, and the portage in East Boothbay takes a while with 11 year olds.

That sounds like a good run – yesterday was certainly perfect weather for running. Wind died down, warm enough for shorts…running with lunch hour traffic in Portland isn’t quite as picturesque though.
