Hi, I was sitting in the hospital next to my daughter, exhausted, watching the Nightly News. I started crying....
Our daughter was diagnosed with ALL on Feb. 2nd, we knew what she had on Feb 1, we say the 'symptoms' in our Mayo Clinic Healt Book.....we are living your story too...I immediately asked the nurse if they have access to the same treatments up in Maine, as we do in Florida, Here is our daughters website... www.caringbridge.org/visit/katherineprokop... You are in our thoughts and prayers.....we call this the 'good' kind of leukemia, compared to the other versions...my wife is going to school to be a nurse now !!!..... :)..we too feel the same way, as we try to 'parent' with a safety net for our children (bicycle helmets etc)to try to keep our kids safe from all dangers, we have just shifted into the unpredictable world of 'parenting without a safety net' as the phrase was termed.....please keep in touch,

Emily,
You and your family are such an inspiration. I am a Mom and runner as well, and I know the challenges and rewards both bring. I am amazed by your commitment. Keep up your good spirits! Little Maddie is in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you also for the post-run chocolate milk tip - it is great. We will be cheering for you on April 20th!

It's wonderful to know that you have some time with Maddie-as-herself and it's fun to visualize Maddie in control of her own materials as she works the familiar system at the hospital. I do hope her values will zip back up, and in the meantime that she can avoid the nasty bugs I hear are circling out there. Thanks so much for the update, and I send my love to each of you.
