Two Trials “Fund” Run in Portland at the Maine Running Company. A big “thank you” to everyone who came out tonight. The event raised $3,938 for Two Trials. We had a group of close to 100 people (I would guess) run/walk the Back Cove path in Portland. Maddie enjoyed her first run in the BabyJogger this spring, and I can say definitively that she has grown and gained some weight since I pushed her in the Jogger last fall. Then, Sheri, Kristen, and I gave a talk about training for the Olympic Trials. Finally this spring, we had some good weather, and it was great to see, hear, and feel so much positive energy in the group. John Rogers and the Maine Running Company deserve a lot of credit for hosting and promoting the event. Also, a big thanks to Wright Express for a matching donation. The Maine running community really came from far and wide (Farmington and Rangeley area - that’s quite a trip!) to support us tonight. Please know that your support will help us reach our goals.

I’m glad that it went well, and was bummed that I got sick and had to skip it. I’m sure that you all were happier for not having had me there though; I’ve had a nasty cough and sore throat since last weekend.

Agreed. Fun time on one of the first non-wintry evenings. (So many pale legs suddenly on display!) I’m proudly wearing my Two Trials bracelet, my first-ever cause bracelet.

Good luck Emily and Maddie. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both. My wife is a breast cancer survivor, having been diagnosed 4 weeks before our second child was due in early 2006. Running has helped her reclaim her fitness and some measure of control over her body. Our two year old daughter and 10 year old son run inside and outside the house with the sublime abandon that children often muster.

Hi Emily and Maddie. I found your site while reading the Runner’s World Olympic Trials coverage, and was moved to donate to Two Trials. I’m running the Boston Marathon but am even more excited to watch your race and see you and all the other amazing women compete. I’ve forwarded your story to my Boston training group so that they can all send their collective good wishes to you and Maddie- we’ll be cheering for you in Boston!! You are SUCH an inspiration.
