Hi Emily,

I just want to say that on a day full of wonderful experiences, having you turn and smile when I called your name on the second loop through Cambridge was the highlight for me. Congrats on getting to the Trials, and here's hoping that the more important of the two trials turns out to be the most successful one.

Hope to see you at B2B this year.

Best regards, Ron

Emily-

I read the article about your "two trials" in Runner's World. I had to go and check the website today to see how you finished...maybe not a PR, but an amazing accomplishment nonetheless. Your daughter is definitely so incredibly proud of her mother, not just because you are a world class runner, but because you are a world class mother who is showing her daughter about how to face adversity and how to always continue to follow your dreams.

I will participate with Team in Training at the Nation's Triathlon in September. I will be putting in those miles and raising those funds thinking of Maddie every step of the way!!!

Emily & Maddie,

I'm cheering you on from Arizona...you're in my thoughts and prayers. May you find victory on Sunday and beyond. How great for Maddie that she has two strong parents to get her through this trial. How great for Emily that she has Maddie to inspire her in her own trial. It's awesome.

Blessings & hope,
Marcie Seery

As a heme/onc fellow, mom, and hopelessly slow runner, my thoughts are with you and your family, for the short and the long run. By sharing your story, you've made an unimaginable process so real for so many people. Maddie is lucky to have you and your husband caring for her. I'll be cheering for you.

Wishing you good luck and keeping your family in my prayers. My 14 year old daughter, Morgan, was DX in Feb '06 with a rare sarcoma. After finishing treatment in Aug '06, she has been cancer free. While I am no elite athlete -- this summer I will be participating in a sprint triathlon with my three daughters (Adriana 27, Morgan 14, Sydney 12) to raise funds for sarcoma research. My goal is to finish the race -- I know my girls can, all very athletic -- but similarly we have found this to be a great way to celebrate her health and to raise the much needed funds for this beast we call cancer. God bless you and Maddie --

I am worried about her eating hotdogs.

Peters et al. studied the relationship between the intake of certain foods and the risk of leukemia in children from birth to age 10 in Los Angeles County between 1980 and 1987. The study found that children eating more than 12 hot dogs per month have nine times the normal risk of developing childhood leukemia.
